Asbestos Advice for Building Managers

As a building manager or premises manager you are responsible for ensuring an appropriate asbestos survey and management plan are compiled for your buildings. This ensures you are compliant and keeps your staff and building users safe from exposure to asbestos. The survey report and management plan must be clearly communicated to all relevant parties that use and maintain the building to help ensure they do not disturb asbestos containing materials.

The survey report and management plan should be updated on a regular basis, we recommend this is done on an annual basis.

Managing asbestos in non-domestic premises is an essential requirement of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Section 4 of this regulation specifically outlines the duty to manage asbestos and who is responsible.
